Frequently asked questions
How long do we need to learn our first dance?
It really depends on the couple! We’ve had some couples learn their whole dance in a weekend, while others choose to spread their practice out over a couple of months.
On average, I recommend allowing at least 4–5 practice sessions of around 30 minutes to learn the choreography and feel comfortable with it.
But the sooner you get started, the better! It gives you plenty of time to practice at your own pace without any pressure.
Can we learn our first dance from home if we are complete beginners with no dance experience?
Absolutely! Everything we create is made with complete beginners in mind. Even if you’ve never danced before and swear you have two left feet, you’ll be absolutely fine!
You can rewatch the lessons as many times as you need and learn at your own pace, all from home.
What is the difference between the Wedding Dance Course + Collection?
The Wedding Dance Course is our DIY option, with different routines to choose from, plus universal steps, dips and lifts that you can mix and match to your music. It’s a great option if you don’t want to learn a fully choreographed routine.
The Collection takes out the guesswork! You choose your song, and you’ll learn choreography we’ve already created specifically for that song, with step-by-step lessons showing you exactly what to do and when.
Can we get feedback on our dance practice?
Absolutely! You’re not alone once you start learning your dance. You can send us videos of your practice along the way, and we’ll give you feedback and tips to help you feel confident and ready for your special day.
How do I access my dance lessons if I choose a song from the Collection?
You’ll get immediate access to your dance and step-by-step lessons after purchase! Make sure to check your email (including your junk/spam folder), as your access email can sometimes land there.
What if I don’t like a certain move, can it be swapped out?
If you purchase from The Collection, you’ll find step substitutes included in your lessons, so you can easily swap out a move for another option you prefer.
How long is the choreography for?
We choreograph to around the 2-minute mark, which we find is the perfect sweet spot for a First Dance — not too short and not too long!
It won’t necessarily finish at exactly 2 minutes. We make sure the dance ends at a beautiful, natural point in the music, whether that’s 2:10, 2:20 or closer to 2:30.
